The client approached me wanting to build him a portfolio website for his photography work. He wanted the website to be mainly focused on the images and it's responsiveness. Explain the user or business problem you solved.
After discussing what type of website he wanted, I started researching other photography portfolio websites and how they are structured. I showed some examples and what personally stood out to me to the client so we could agree on the approach.
Prior to this, the client didn't have a digital method to showcase his portfolio. With this, he has been able to attract clients more efficiently.
I conducted research by holding user interviews and surveys on multiple photography portfolio's I picked out to gauge what users look for and like. Using methods such as Think Aloud testing made it more efficient in gathering qualititive data. With this data, I was able to munderstand what I need to do.
I started doing rough sketches of multiple different types of structures and gave it to the client so they could select which one they preferred the most. After that, I started the wireframing, mainly focusing on the features and functions the client requested. I made sure to keep 100% transparency with the client, staying in constant communication for every design decision I made and any further ideas i thought of they might like.
Once agreeing on the design and layout, I started to code it using HTML,CSS and JavaScript. I proposed ideas in terms of animation and transitions to the client which they fully agreed with.
Once finished, I ran the same tests I did when researching different photography portfolio websites. This allowed me to gauge exactly how it compares to other examples and what i've done uniquely, and also what I am missing.
